Whilst staying with us at Butterton Moor house you are within a short distance of many of the attractions the Peak District has to offer.
We would recommend visits to Chatsworth House, The Staffordshire Potteries (The Gladstone museum and the Wedgewood visitors centre) Bakewell, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Castleton.
There are also many beautiful walks in the area, most notably around the Roaches and Pooles cavern. We are 5 minutes from the Manifold Valley which has an excellent track for cycling and walking. Cycles can be hired at the Waterhouses end of the track. Numerous other valleys are within 10 minutes drive, including the famous fly fishing valley of Dovedale.
For those looking for an exciting day out we are also close to the Alton Towers and Gulliver's Kingdom theme parks.
At the house we have an extensive library of activities available in the area which you are welcome to look through during your stay to help you get the most out of your holiday with us.
The Black Lion in Butterton is within walking distance of both the house and the Manifold valley. With it's low beams, open fires and rural location, it makes an ideal place to relax after a long day.
The Jervis Arms is only 3/4 mile from the house and is situated on the banks of the river Hamps. It has a large beer garden and a licensed family room.
The Greyhound in Warslow is friendly and has a big specials board.
The Forge Inn on the Leek/Derby road has a good pub and restaurant menu.
The Mermaid Inn is situated high up on the moors with lovely views and a varied menu.
Thornbury Hall, near Cheadle, appears in the UK top 100 Indian restaurants guide.
Carriages, on the Buxton / Ashbourne road serves quality Italian meals.
